Bio
Yvonne Lava was born to be a film maker. She has been taping videos since her dad brought home a video camera in 1982. Prior to the camera, she did puppet shows for her little brother with several recurring characters. She had her little brother giggling for hours night after night. After spending most of her pre-teen years studying acting and producing her own shorts regularly both in public at school and in her private home life, she had a fall back after entering puberty. During her high school and college years she kept acting a private obsession. She stopped taking classes and auditioning for school plays, but maintained filming home videos with goofy friends and her little brother. A friend recommended a book and finally after reading “The Artists Way” in 1996 she restarted her public acting career. She was now living in Arizona starring in independent films doing actor showcases.
Decades after she first dreamed it, she finally began doing stand up comedy in 1999 with my first showcase at the Hollywood Improv on Melrose. She then went on to be a “Funniest Person in the Valley” contest finalist in 3 competitive contests in Arizona and performing for 200-400 people regularly at the Tempe Improv in Arizona. During these years she atteneded the best film school in the state of Arizona. Steven Speilburg attended this same school, Scottsdale Community College, as well as, attending Yvonne’s same high school, Saratoga High School. During her time as a film student, she was instantly noticed and respected by her teachers. Upon her first class she was recognized by her teacher and was asked to be on the panel for the school film contest. An eye for film and an eye for story.
Her first film school project (based on self experience):
After film school she moved back to California to be around other film makers. Her dream was to have her own show, her own channel, now she does with reelhotlava.com
